Information and advice for travelling abroad
Travel Vaccinations
Travelling abroad can expose you to infections that aren’t common in the UK. Some vaccines are free on the NHS, while others must be paid for privately. Planning ahead helps ensure you’re protected before you travel.
If you are travelling overseas:
- Collect a travel vaccination form from our main Reception desk or use our secure online form.
- Book an appointment with a Practice Nurse ideally 12 weeks prior to your departure date;
- Take your completed travel vaccination form to the Practice Nurse appointment.
At your appointment with the Practice Nurse, your travel vaccination form will be reviewed and additional appointments may be booked depending upon the vaccinations required. Some vaccines require multiple doses or take time to become effective.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
